CSG: Supporting Whitechapel Mission in 2024
On November 13th, 2024, members of the Classic Services Group team volunteered at Whitechapel Mission, a charity renowned for its dedication to supporting the homeless in London. The team’s efforts are part of an ongoing commitment to give back to the community while aligning with the company’s core values of honesty, integrity, and teamwork.
Whitechapel Mission operates with a unique funding model, ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to helping the homeless. Its day-to-day operations, led by Tony and Sue, are supported by rental income from their facilities, which include accommodation for NHS staff and shops. This commitment to transparency and impact resonated deeply with the Classic Services team, who first connected with the mission in 2023.
A Morning of Service
Eight members of the Classic Services team, including directors, operations staff, and support staff, spent the morning at Whitechapel Mission.
Due to space constraints, participation was limited, but the entire company supported the initiative by ensuring those attending could be freed from their regular duties.
Starting at 5:45 am, the volunteers worked together to prepare and serve breakfast to approximately 200 homeless individuals. After the meal, the team remained on-site to help clean and tidy up, ensuring the mission was ready for its next activities.
Adam Chamberlain, Classic Services Group Associate Director, reflected on the experience: “Even though people were going through tough times, most were happy and jovial but also polite with it.“

The sentiment of Adam’s comment was shared by the entire team, who found the day both humbling and rewarding. Engaging with people from all walks of life, they were struck by the gratitude and positivity of those they served despite their challenging circumstances.

Ongoing Commitment to Helping the Homeless
This was not the first time Classic Services has supported Whitechapel Mission. In 2023, the company donated 30 winter survival packs, each containing essentials like sleeping bags, hats, gloves, and socks, to help those living on the streets during the colder months.
The success of that initiative inspired the team to take a more hands-on approach this year by volunteering at the mission.
This sustained commitment reflects Classic Services’ belief in making a tangible difference to those in need while also creating a sense of teamwork and awareness among their staff.
Whitechapel Mission: A Beacon of Hope
With the winter season approaching, the company is continuing its support by preparing another round of survival packs for December 2024.
The Classic Services team was also inspired by the story of Tony, the mission’s director, who initially began as a volunteer like themselves.
Tony’s journey from a corporate career to dedicating his life to helping others highlights the transformative power of even the smallest acts of service.
Whitechapel Mission’s work is truly life-changing. By providing meals, shelter, and support to London’s homeless community, the charity offers vital help to those who need it most, day in and day out.
