Safeguarding a business hub during an onsite protest

Our client manages a mixed-use business hub on the South coast. This case study explains how we kept the property and its staff safe after news broke that a large onsite protest was due to take place.

THE BRIEF

Classic Services Group was already supplying the business hub with security officers and reception staff. When our clients found out that a large protest was due on the site, they asked us for help.

Our brief was as follows:

Liaise with the police both before and during the protest
Provide additional security personnel
Ensure the site remained secure and undamaged
Protect the people who work at the site

THE PROCESS

In the days and weeks leading up to the protest, we were in regular contact with the local police to ensure seamless coordination between our security personnel and their officers.

Based on a risk assessment and information provided by the police, we provided our client with 5 additional security officers. Alongside this, a senior member of CSG’s management team was appointed to provide our client with advice and expert guidance.

On the day, our security operatives carried out external patrols to make sure fences and barriers remained secure and in place. They made sure all doors were locked and secured the car parks — all the while maintaining clear communication with onsite police, and with our clients.

Afterwards, when the protest was over, we helped with the cleanup operation.

THE RESULT

This was a large gathering of protestors, yet the site remained secure and undamaged. Even though the protest was taking place just outside, all the staff who work at the business hub felt safe. They could carry out their duties uninterrupted.
