The Armed Forces Covenant

CSG recognises the unique obligations and sacrifices made by the Armed Forces, and we’ve pledged our support by signing the Armed Forces Covenant.

Signing the Covenant demonstrates our belief that those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and their families, including the bereaved, should be treated with fairness and respect in the communities, economy, and society they serve with their lives.

How will CSG uphold the principles of the Covenant?

As well as promoting that we’re Armed Forces-friendly externally on our website and marketing material, and internally to our colleagues, we have pledged to:

  • Support employees who are members of the Reserve Forces and Supporting Reservists by offering them additional days of annual leave in order to carry out their duties.
  • Offering additional annual leave to Cadet Force Adult Volunteers to help them carry out their training.
  • Supporting any mobilisations, and offering insight days to older Cadets looking for apprenticeships and further education opportunities.
  • Working with the Career Transition Partnership and relevant charities to offer work opportunities to the wounded, injured and sick.
  • Offering work placements, insight days, mentoring schemes and guaranteed interview schemes to veterans seeking employment.
  • Supporting the employment of Service spouses, partners and dependants.
  • Offering short-notice leave to those military spouses and partners whose partners are deployed.
  • Considering ways in which remote-working solutions might benefit the mobile nature of the Armed Forces community.
  • Supporting national campaigns to celebrate Armed Forces Day, Reserves Day and other significant events.
  • Appointing an Armed Forces lead within our organisation to coordinate support for the Armed Forces community.
  • Engaging with and supporting local Armed Forces charities.
  • Signposting members of the Armed Forces community to available support.
  • Developing relationships and working collaboratively with other organisations supporting the Covenant and the Armed Forces community in our local area and our industry sector.
  • Offering commercial discounts for members of the Armed Forces community directly or via a military discount service.
  • Ensuring the Armed Forces community has fair access to our services and is not put at a disadvantage due to their service.

We will publicise these commitments through our literature and on our website. We’ll set out how we will seek to honour them and invite feedback from the Armed Forces Community and our customers on how we are doing.
